soil ecosystem (Soil microbiology)

soil as a dynamic ecosystem

The microscopic life in soil influences virtually everything in our lives from the water we drink the food we eat to the air we breathe. soil is a living organism- A consortia of living cells in an organic/mineral matrix. it is a dynamic ecosystem that supports complex interactions between numerous geologic, chemical and biological factors. this rich region called the lithosphere.

teems with microbes serves a dynamic role in biogeochemical cycles and is an important repository for organic detritus and that terrestrial organisms. the soil in addition to having a diversity of useful microorganisms in industry, agriculture and geochemical  cycles, is also the habitat of a no. of fungi and bacteria that are pathogens in plants and animals including humans.

soil microbiology is defined as the branch of soil science concerned with soil inhabiting microorganism their function in activities without soil microorganisms we would be over helmed by a undecomposed organic matter. in other word heaps of dead bodies of plants and animals.

The most famous pioneer soil microbiologists where Pasteur, Koch winogradsky, Fleming and walkman. there are many and varied interactions among the soil microorganisms and higher plants that greatly influence plant growth and development.
